Clifton Historic Resources, LLC is a certified Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) in Tennessee, proudly founded by Angie Clifton Thiel, M.A., in January 2022. As a self-reported and now officially recognized woman-owned company, we specialize in architectural history and cultural resource management.

Our clients include civil engineering firms, consultants, municipalities, and federal and state government agencies. Ms. Thiel operates as a sole entity or collaborates with other professionals, consistently exceeding the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for Architectural History and Historic Preservation, as outlined in 48 FR 44716 (September 29, 1983) by the National Park Service (NPS), amended in 62 FR 33708 (June 20, 1997) in the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), and published in the Code of Federal Regulations, 36 CFR Part 61, as amended (Federal Register 1984, 49(73):1,489-1,490).

Ms. Thiel brings extensive experience, having worked in architectural history since 2005. She has authored or co-authored nearly 300 reports, including historical and architectural research, architectural surveys, National Register nominations, historic contexts, and cultural resource surveys assessing NRHP eligibility. Well-versed in NRHP eligibility criteria, 36 CFR 800 of the National Historic Preservation Act, and Section 106 processes, she excels in completing historic structure forms and executing mitigation documentation. Her successful completion of state- and city-funded projects underscores her commitment to communication, efficiency, and meeting project requirements in a timely manner.
